 The popular Disney movie  The Little Mermaid has made big controversies because of the actress that is portraying her role. The Little Mermaid  has been a disney classic with it original film made in 1989. Many kids grew up watching it and now they get to experience again in live action. Anyone who was a kid in the 2000s will be happy to be able to experience the love and happiness they got when they first watched the movie.  There has been some concern because disney has contracted a colored women to play the role. Halle baile was offered the role to play the little mermaid and she happily agreed but many people were upset with this decision. 

  Some social media users opposing the casting choice even began using the hashtag #NotMyAriel to express their displeasure with the news. With news outlets and social media users discussing the big casting news of the anticipated live-action film, only 20 percent of respondents said they had heard “a lot” about Bailey being selected to play the mermaid. Over 31 percent of respondents reportedly heard “nothing at all” about the casting decision. THis has been a very big controversy because of the color of her skin, many people want her to be of the skin that she was originally her to keep it as “classic” as it was before.

 The 19-year-old singer-actress and Atlanta native may seem like a newcomer to Hollywood, but Bailey has already made a name for herself with a slew of successful works in film, television and music. Bailey’s varied acting roles over the years include a series regular role on Grown-ish and she even had some experience with disney as she guest starred in Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally,  and in the 2006 Queen Latifah film Last Holiday. She and her sister also form the duo, Chloe x Halle, signed to Beyoncé’s label Parkwood Entertainment. They are both very big in the music industry and now as they go there separate ways they will be even bigger in this hollywood world.
